| CREATOR'S VOICE: | |
| “Myths and legends about a spirit or demon terrorizing a drunk, lazy and unwise person are very common here in the highlands of Ecuador. I wanted to create a story about a monster that enbodied that trope, while also being a funny and entertaining comedy taking place in Quito, the city I've lived in my entire life.” | |
| MESSAGE TO THE READER: | |
| “This story is loosely based on "El Gallo de la Catedral" (Rooster of the Cathedral), a very old and popular urban legend from Quito. I also added elements from other Ecuadorian scary myths, namely "La Caja Ronca" (The Hoarse Box) from Ibarra and "El Uñaguille" (The Demon Baby) that is a common tale throughout the Andean region of my country. "Chumado" is a Quiteño slang term for "Drunk". The little mask on the clock robot is called "Aya Uma" (Head of Power), it's a very important character in our indigenous tradition.” | |
